The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is the organization behind Canada’s .CA domain and a national leader in internet security, infrastructure, and digital innovation. As part of the fit-up of its new sixth and seventh floor headquarters in Ottawa, CIRA set out to create a workplace that reflected its forward-thinking culture while supporting collaboration, employee well-being, and everyday productivity.
Working alongside Castonguay Construction and the design team, Hush Acoustics delivered a comprehensive acoustic package that seamlessly integrated performance with architectural design.
Open, collaborative offices encourage communication and teamwork but they can also introduce unwanted noise and distractions. For CIRA, creating spaces that balanced collaboration with focus was essential.
The project was delivered on an accelerated timeline, requiring every acoustic solution to be manufactured, coordinated, and installed within a fast-paced construction schedule. Beyond meeting these demanding deadlines, each product needed to align with CIRA’s modern workplace aesthetic and carefully curated brand identity. From colours and finishes to product selection, every detail was thoughtfully integrated into the interior design, allowing the acoustic treatments to serve as architectural features that enhance the space while delivering exceptional acoustic performance.
Hush Acoustics supplied a complete acoustic solution that addressed sound control throughout the workplace while reinforcing the overall design intent.
Suspended Room Dividers help define work areas without sacrificing openness, creating flexible spaces that encourage collaboration while providing a sense of privacy.
Overhead, Quadrant Fins and Flutter Clouds introduce texture to the ceiling while reducing reverberation and improving overall acoustic comfort
Throughout the office, Reveal Wall Tiles and Etch Wall Tiles transform large wall surfaces into functional acoustic features, helping absorb unwanted noise while adding depth and visual interest.
The project is finished with a custom Acoustic Moose Trophy, a distinctive feature that celebrates Canadian identity and demonstrates how acoustic products can become memorable design elements rather than simply functional additions.
The completed CIRA headquarters demonstrates how acoustic design can enhance both the experience and appearance of a workplace. By integrating acoustic treatments across ceilings, walls, and collaborative spaces, the office supports clearer conversations, reduced distractions, and a more comfortable environment for employees and visitors alike.
The result is a workplace where acoustics are thoughtfully woven into the architecture, creating a space that reflects CIRA’s commitment to innovation, performance, and building better experiences for the people who use it every day.
