The architects at BDP Quadrangle were tasked with designing a visually impressive and acoustically comfortable space for Audi Mississauga. To achieve this, they envisioned a 50-foot curved mural that would prominently showcase Audi car images on a drywall surface. Recognizing the acoustic challenges posed by the space, which featured hard floors and high ceilings, they brought in Hush Acoustics to provide a solution that would address these issues while enhancing the overall aesthetic of the environment.
The primary challenge in this project was the significant reverberation caused by the hard surfaces and expansive height of the ceilings. These elements created an environment where sound easily bounced around, making it difficult to maintain acoustic comfort. The architects required a solution that would effectively reduce noise levels without compromising the sleek, modern design that Audi is known for.
Hush Acoustics collaborated closely with the architects at BDP Quadrangle to develop an acoustic solution that would both enhance the visual impact of the space and address the reverberation issues. The approach focused on integrating acoustic treatments into the design elements, ensuring that the functional and aesthetic requirements were met.
1. Acoustic Printed Murals
The centerpiece of the project was the 50-foot curved acoustic mural featuring iconic Audi car images. Hush Acoustics created custom-printed acoustic panels that not only showcased the stunning visuals but also provided effective sound absorption. These murals covered the entire curved wall, seamlessly blending art with function to reduce reverberation while maintaining the sleek, modern look of the space.
You can see the picture of the car, the wall lights were integrated in with the acoustic murals.
2. Room Dividers with Themed Murals
To further enhance acoustic control and break up the open office environment, Hush Acoustics proposed the use of room dividers. These dividers were strategically placed to segment the space and were adorned with additional murals that aligned with Audi’s brand theme. This approach helped to manage sound levels across the office while adding visual interest to the interior design.
3. Suspended Acoustic Fixtures
To complement the mural and further reduce noise, Hush Acoustics installed rectangular acoustic clouds suspended from the ceiling. These clouds were designed to simulate the appearance of a road, with linear fixtures integrated between them to mimic the look of a light strip along a paved road. This innovative design element not only contributed to the acoustic comfort of the space but also reinforced the automotive theme in a subtle yet impactful way.
The integration of Hush Acoustics’ solutions resulted in a space that was both visually striking and acoustically balanced. The custom-printed acoustic murals effectively reduced the reverberation issues, ensuring that the environment was comfortable for both staff and visitors. The room dividers and suspended acoustic fixtures further enhanced the acoustic performance of the space while contributing to the overall aesthetic.
The final outcome was a beautiful, noise-controlled environment that perfectly showcased the architects’ vision for Audi Mississauga. The project successfully combined art and function, creating a space that not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations in terms of both design and acoustic performance.
The Audi Mississauga project stands as a testament to the power of integrated acoustic design in creating spaces that are as functional as they are visually captivating.
